Human Touch Student Leadership Project
For TCOM 2nd-4th years who are a current member of SOMA (Student Osteopathic Medical Association) and/or COSGP (Council of Osteopathic Student Gov’t Presidents): The American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF) in partnership with the City of Detroit’s Department of Neighborhoods offers osteopathic medical students a once-in-a-lifetime experience to make a difference and inspire the people of this once thriving city. You can be part of the solution to help reinvigorate a former industrial giant and help Motown get its groove back. You don’t want to miss the AOF’s HumanTouch Student Leadership Project in Detroit, Michigan, July 29th through August 1st. This project will include 2 work days, July 30th and 31st, and will be the only Student Leadership Project offered during 2014. The goal of this project is to inspire, motivate and empower osteopathic medical students to participate in public service projects that benefit communities in need and promote leadership and teamwork within the osteopathic profession. Applicants must have a desire to help those in need and must submit a post trip report and short story about their experience. The AOF covers your hotel (double occupancy), daily breakfast & lunch and a wrap-up celebration dinner on Thursday evening. Participants will be on their own for meals not listed. Each student will also receive up to $250 to help defray travel costs.
