Dr. Patricia Gwirtz Quasi Endowed Scholarship

The Dr. Patricia Gwirtz Quasi Endowed Scholarship was established in 2020 by the UNT Health College of Biomedical & Translational Sciences in memory of Patricia Gwirtz, PhD, who served as a member of the UNT Health faculty for 38 years. She taught physiology and conducted bench research on neural control in coronary circulation and heart function. As an educator and advocate, she had a tremendous impact on countless HSC students. As Associate Dean for Biomedical Education, she is credited with building the Medical Science program to national prominence. Dr. Gwirtz was devoted to serving her community, especially through Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Tarrant County. Upon her retirement in 2020, the scholarship was established to honor her contributions and to provide support for Medical Science students with strong academic backgrounds, interest in research, and commitment to community service.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a UNT Health student
  • Pursuing a Master of Science in Medical Sciences degree
  • Must be in good academic standing

Recipient must maintain the above requirements to receive the scholarship for spring semester. Failure to do so could result in a loss of scholarship benefits.
