Stan & Beverly Weiss Award for Rural Health Endowed Scholarship
The Stanley & Beverly Weiss Endowed Scholarship was established in 1996 by former UNTHSC faculty member and UNTHSC Foundation Board Member, Stan Weiss and his wife, Beverly Weiss. The Weiss’s created this scholarship to honor the profession of osteopathic medicine and support students who are truly committed to rural health. Dr. Weiss has served as a chair of the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine and as an Associate Professor of Occupational and Personal Health. Mrs. Weiss directed administrative operations for the Cowtown marathon and 10K Runs for 21 years, bringing national recognition to the UNT Health Science Center.
Eligibility Criteria
- Pursuing a degree in Osteopathic Medicine
- Must be a third-year or fourth-year TCOM student
- Must plan to practice rural medicine
- Must be a first-generation college student
- Must be in good academic standing
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must answer the supplemental questions below -

Recipient must maintain the above requirements to receive the scholarship for spring semester. Failure to do so could result in a loss of scholarship benefits.
